  6. Instructions for Using the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A Under PC Support/400
  7.  
  8. 1. Load the PCS software to the target machine using the installation
  9.    procedures provided with PCS software.
  10. 2. Copy the files from the SSPCS directory on the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A
  11.    SUPPORT DISKETTE to the default PCS directory of the target machine.
  12. 3. Edit the STARTPCS.BAT file on the target machine
  13.    a. Locate the line reading WSEAH
  14.    b. For extended DOS emulation, change the line to read
  15.         CALL LDMCAAH
  16.    c. For basic DOS emulation, change the line to read
  17.         CALL LDMCAAH B
  18. The 5250 Emulation Adapter/A will now run under PC Support/400.

  21. Instructions for Using the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A Under Communications Manager
  22.  
  23. With the software provided on the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE,
  24. operation under Communications Manager is only supported with the adapter
  25. configured as follows:
  26.   Memory address space  DC000-DFFF
  27.   I/O address space     02400-C47F
  28.   Interrupt Level       5
  29.  
  30. NOTE: This level of software does not support Interrupt Sharing. You must
  31. configure all other hardware in the system unit to avoid using Interrupt 5.
  32.  
  33. 1. Configure the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A using the system unit REFERENCE
  34.    DISKETTE to the settings listed above.
  35. 2. Install Communications Manager to the target machine using the installation
  36.    procedures provided with the Communications Manager product that you are using.
  37. 3. Build and install a basic configuration file that includes a 5250 twinaxial
  38.    communications profile, according to Communications Manager instructions.
  39. 4. You will be prompted to shut down the system and reboot as part of the
  40.    install configuration process.  Before doing this, perform the following:
  41.    a. Switch to an OS/2 command prompt and copy the T1P1SDD.SYS file from the
  42.       SSCM DIRECTORY of the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE to the
  43.       \CMLIB directory of the target machine.
  44.    b. Edit the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file to change the following line:
  45.         from: DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1NDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg
  46.         to:   DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1SDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg
  47.  
  48.        where: x represents the drive where the directory for CMLIB is located
  49.               yyyyyyyy represents the .CFG file you built during installation
  50.  
  51. Now shut down the system and restart.  An error will occur when trying to install
  52. the T1P1SDD.SYS device driver -- this is an expected error and can be corrected
  53. on future bootings using the procedures that follow... if you are using:
  54.   Communications Manager V1.0 - use Procedure 1
  55.   Extended Services Communications Manager - use Procedure 2
  56.  
  57. Procedure 1: Modifying the Configuration File Under Communications Manager 1.0
  58.  
  59. 1.  Press ENTER to bypass the error and continue booting OS/2.
  60. 2.  After booting OS/2, select the Communication Manager/2 Group.
  61. 3.  From the Communication Manager/2 Group, select the CMSETUP icon.
  62. 4.  From the Communication Manager/2 Setup panel, select SETUP.
  63. 5.  Indicate the configuration that you want by selecting it from the list box
  64.     or by typing it in the entry field.  In most cases, the configuration is the
  65.     name of the configuration file in your device statement. For example, if
  66.     your device statement is:
  67.       device=x:\cmlib\t1p1sdd.sys cfg=x:\cmlib\yyyyyyyy.cfg
  68.     your configuration file would be yyyyyyyy.cfg
  69. 6.  Select the OK button.  A small pop-up appears asking "Will this configuration
  70.     be used on the workstation".  Select the YES button.  A list of the types of
  71.     connections that are supported by this configuration file appears.
  72. 7.  Select TWINAXIAL.  This updates the Feature or Application list box, which
  73.     is the list box on the right.
  74. 8.  Select 5250 EMULATION FOR AS/400 ONLY, then select the CONFIGURE button.
  75. 9.  The 5250 EMULATION THROUGH TWINAXIAL FOR AS/400 panel appears.
  76. 10. Select ADVANCED.
  77. 11. On the Communication Manager Profile List Sheet, select the profile name
  78.     DLC-TWINAXIAL, then select the CONFIGURE button.
  79. 12. On the Twinaxial DLC Adapter Parameters panel, select ENHANCED 5250 EMULATION
  80.     ADAPTER under Adapter Type.
  81. 13. In the right panel, make the following changes:
  82.       Change the I/O Port to:         241A
  83.       Change the Interrupt Level to:  5
  84.       Change the RAM location to:     DC000
  85.     Press Enter.
  86. 14. When finished, select the OK button.
  87. 15. Select CLOSE to back out. Verify runs to verify all changes.
  88. 16. Select CLOSE to back out.
  89. 17. After successful verification, shut down and restart your system.
  90. 18. You can now install the twinaxial device driver and run 5250 Emulation under
  91.     Communications Manager.

  94. Procedure 2: Modifying the Configuration File Under Extended Services
  95.              Communications Manager
  96.  
  97. 1.  Press ENTER to bypass the error and continue booting OS/2.
  98. 2.  After booting OS/2, select the Communication Manager icon.
  99. 3.  From the Communications Manager Main Menu, select ADVANCED function
  100.     at the command bar.
  101.     NOTE: If you are prompted to select a configuration file to
  102.           start Communications Manager, select the file that you
  103.           created and installed earlier.
  104. 4.  Select CONFIGURATION
  105. 5.  Specify your configuration file name; press Enter.
  106. 6.  Select SNA Feature Profiles
  107. 7.  Select Data Line Control (DLC) Profiles
  108. 8.  Select TWINAXIAL DLC type.
  109. 9.  Select CHANGE profile operation.
  110. 10. Change the adapter type to Enhanced 5250 Emulation Adapter. The other
  111.     options can be left the same; press Enter.
  112. 11. Make these changes:
  113.       Change the I/O Port to:         241A
  114.       Change the Interrupt Level to:  5
  115.       Change the RAM location to:     DC000
  116.     Press Enter.
  117. 12. Press ESC to exit out of the Communication Configuration menu and select
  118.     Verify Function at the command bar.
  119. 13. Select Run Verify to verify the changes.
  120. 14. After successful verification, shut down and restart your system.
  121. 15. You can now install the twinaxial device driver and run 5250 Emulation
  122.     under Communications Manager.
