-
- Instructions for Using the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A Under Communications Manager
-
- With the software provided on the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE,
- operation under Communications Manager is only supported with the adapter
- configured as follows:
- Memory address space DC000-DFFF
- I/O address space 02400-C47F
- Interrupt Level 5
-
- NOTE: This level of software does not support Interrupt Sharing. You must
- configure all other hardware in the system unit to avoid using Interrupt 5.
-
- 1. Configure the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A using the system unit REFERENCE
- DISKETTE to the settings listed above.
- 2. Install Communications Manager to the target machine using the installation
- procedures provided with the Communications Manager product that you are using.
- 3. Build and install a basic configuration file that includes a 5250 twinaxial
- communications profile, according to Communications Manager instructions.
- 4. You will be prompted to shut down the system and reboot as part of the
- install configuration process. Before doing this, perform the following:
- a. Switch to an OS/2 command prompt and copy the T1P1SDD.SYS file from the
- SSCM DIRECTORY of the 5250 Emulation Adapter/A SUPPORT DISKETTE to the
- \CMLIB directory of the target machine.
- b. Edit the OS/2 CONFIG.SYS file to change the following line:
- from: DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1NDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg
- to: DEVICE=x:\CMLIB\T1P1SDD.SYS CFG=x:\CMLIB\yyyyyyyy.cfg
-
- where: x represents the drive where the directory for CMLIB is located
- yyyyyyyy represents the .CFG file you built during installation
-
- Now shut down the system and restart. An error will occur when trying to install
- the T1P1SDD.SYS device driver -- this is an expected error and can be corrected
- on future bootings using the procedures that follow... if you are using:
- Communications Manager V1.0 - use Procedure 1
- Extended Services Communications Manager - use Procedure 2
-
- Procedure 1: Modifying the Configuration File Under Communications Manager 1.0
-
- 1. Press ENTER to bypass the error and continue booting OS/2.
- 2. After booting OS/2, select the Communication Manager/2 Group.

- 5. Indicate the configuration that you want by selecting it from the list box
- or by typing it in the entry field. In most cases, the configuration is the
- name of the configuration file in your device statement. For example, if
- your device statement is:
- device=x:\cmlib\t1p1sdd.sys cfg=x:\cmlib\yyyyyyyy.cfg
- your configuration file would be yyyyyyyy.cfg
- 6. Select the OK button. A small pop-up appears asking "Will this configuration
- be used on the workstation". Select the YES button. A list of the types of
- connections that are supported by this configuration file appears.
